Roraima Group Of Companies was formed in August 1992 by Captain Gerald Gouveia and his wife Captain Debra Gouveia, both are experienced aviators and have Airline Transport Pilot Licenses for fixed-winged aircraft. Captain Gerald Gouveia spent twelve of his formative years in the Army Air Corps, serving as Training Officer and subsequently Chief Pilot, before resigning in December 1987.

The formation of Roraima Airways and its commitment to excellence was in anticipation of the opening up of the economy to foreign investment and the expected high standard of aviation services required by these investors.During the startup period, Roraima Airways focused on providing aircraft charter services to Omai Gold Mines with predominantly passenger service needs and Golden Star Resources with passenger but mostly cargo requirements.
